Windows Detected A Hard Disk Problem

If you are using any version of windows after windows xp , you might get effected by an error message saying " Windows Detected a hard disk problem " . This error message got generated if you have a faulty hard disk. But may of the user report problem , that this error message is generated despite they have a hard drive consisting of correct sectors. The main drawback of this error is that , it is continuously execute after every 5-10 min & is very annoying .

If you are one who is facing this error , then you can easily stop it . This error message doesn't upset you anymore . For that you have to follow this simple steps .

STEPS :

1. Press Win+R , type gpedit.msc & Click on ok.

2. Navigate the left side & locate the above listed path .

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Troubleshooting and Diagnostics > Disk Diagnostics 


Disk Diagnostics


3. Double click on both of the listed settings & Click on Disable , by default it is set to not configured or enabled.

Settings                                                               ->  Set It To

Disk Diagnostic :Configure Custom alert text        ->  Disabled

Disk Diagnostic :Configure Execution Level          ->  Disabled


Set It to disabled


4. Now that's all you have successfully disabled that error message.


Note : Do At Your Own Risk. This will just remove an error message , in long term get your hard disk checked by a manufacturer.

    Thank you so much. But is there a way to know whether my hard drive is really faulty or not? I tried chkdsk and everything seems allright.

      Hello , You'hve tried 'chkdsk' no error found there then it means everything is working fine. Its a programming error in OS that whenever one sector seems to be corrupt it shows the message.

    everytime i type the gpedit.msc error message keep on popping up: windows cannot find gpedit.msc.

    hi dude if i type 'ckdsk' in command prompt the new window will open at the same time immediately disappear.What is the reason?how solve this problem?Plz help me frndz:)

      Hello Vijay Just type Cmd In Windows Search & Right click , run it as as administrator . Your Problem will solved..:)) Keep visiting ittwist :))

    Thank you very much Mr. Gaurav Bhardwaj. This morning I've experienced this problem. When I checked the disk error it found nothing. Turning off the report makes us pleasant but I would like to ask you that whether this error really affects my computer in the future.

    That's good but I want to know that is that a hardware problem or software please help me because I've just bought a new laptop and don't know is it okay or not if it is a hardware problem I 'm going to send it back to the company I bought

    In Windows 7, the Local Group Policy Editor will only be available in the Professional, Ultimate, and Enterpise editions.
    In Windows RT, 8, and 8.1, the Local Group Policy Editor will only be available in the Pro and Enterpise editions.

    You don't want to disable this message. It is alerting you to the fact that your hard drive is likely failing and you're going to lose everything soon if you don't back up your system and replace the drive. Turning off the warning "fixes" the problem no more than refusing to show up to a doctor's appointment fixes a cancer.

      Windows 7 Home, Premium, Starter, Student do not have the function to run gpedit.msc. It's only Ultimate, Business that have it.

    My problem is solved. But now I`m facing another problem. When it is started, any command makes hang for 3 to 4 minutes. After that it is smooth.

    This is not a warning that you can “solve”.

    It is a real warning that your drive will fail and you will lose all your programs and files.

    You should immediately back up everything, replace the drive and recover from backup.
