Windows Detected A Hard Disk Problem - Solved
If you are using any version of windows after windows xp , you might get effected by an error message saying " Windows Detected a hard disk problem " . This error message got generated if you have a faulty hard disk. But may of the user report problem , that this error message is generated despite they have a hard drive consisting of correct sectors. The main drawback of this error is that , it is continuously execute after every 5-10 min & is very annoying .
If you are one who is facing this error , then you can easily stop it . This error message doesn't upset you anymore . For that you have to follow this simple steps .
STEPS :
1. Press Win+R , type gpedit.msc & Click on ok.
2. Navigate the left side & locate the above listed path .
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Troubleshooting and Diagnostics > Disk Diagnostics
3. Double click on both of the listed settings & Click on Disable , by default it is set to not configured or enabled.
Settings -> Set It To
Disk Diagnostic :Configure Custom alert text -> Disabled
Disk Diagnostic :Configure Execution Level -> Disabled
4. Now that's all you have successfully disabled that error message.

ReplyDeleteHello , You'hve tried 'chkdsk' no error found there then it means everything is working fine. Its a programming error in OS that whenever one sector seems to be corrupt it shows the message.

ReplyDeleteIn Windows 7, the Local Group Policy Editor will only be available in the Professional, Ultimate, and Enterpise editions.

It is alerting you to the fact that your hard drive is likely failing and you're going to lose everything soon if you don't back up your system and replace the drive. Turning off the warning "fixes" the problem no more than refusing to show up to a doctor's appointment fixes a cancer.

Windows 7 Home, Premium, Starter, Student do not have the function to run gpedit.msc. It's only Ultimate, Business that have it.

Is it totally safe to disable the error message without checking hard disk health condition?

This is not a warning that you can “solve”.
ReplyDeleteIt is a real warning that your drive will fail and you will lose all your programs and files.
You should immediately back up everything, replace the drive and recover from backup.
